What is Monster Hunter?[]
For those who are completely new to the series and have somehow stumbled upon this wiki, Monster Hunter is a hack-n-slash adventure game developed by Capcom Co., Ltd.. Beginning in 2004, the series has developed from Monster Hunter 1 on the Playstation 2 to sequels and expansions on the Playstation Portable and Nintendo Wii. There is a wide variety of incredible, unique and just plain strange monsters spread across many different terrains in a wondrous land. From pleasant forests to erupting volcanos, Monster Hunter is constantly being added to, and the best part for those writing fanfiction - it has little plot, which means you are free to do what you wish with your story!!
English Released Titles in the Monster Hunter Series[]
Monster Hunter - Playstation 2, September 1, 2004. (America/Europe) The very first game in the series, introducing the many classic elements that appear in the next games. The main village is Kokoto.
Monster Hunter Freedom - Playstation Portable,May 23, 2006. The first in the 'Freedom' line of MH games, it acts simply as a port for MH1, but with the addition of Subspecies, the Yian Garuga.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 - August 28, 2007 (America/Europe). Essentially an expansion of MH2, it adds more weapons, areas and completely new monsters to the series. The main village is Pokke.
Monster Hunter 3 - Tri - April 20/23 2010 (America/Europe). The highly anticipated third generation game for the Wii. It incorporates major improvements to old mechanics and gameplay, underwater battles and brand new areas, monsters and one new weapon type: the switch axe.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - March 19/22 2013 (America/Europe). An expansion that merges Tri and portable third into one huge game
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - February 13 (Globally). The long awaited fourth generation game that introduces The Frenzy Virus, climbing and mounting to the franchise.
