As I have been struggling with some very particular issues in the mobile game I have collected some ideas I would have seen from the launch or over time.
Monsters
The count of monsters in MHNow seems low when you look at it and considering the amount of monsters released in MH World/IB and MH Rise/Sunbreak it does seem very little when you take that into consideration.
As the developers of MHNow said they want to add more monsters into the game step by step I would have rather seen a decent amount of "starter" monsters from the start and then get sub/rare species added on a later date over time.
Some monsters for example that could have been added to the start would have been Iodrome, Basarios (this one is getting added later/soon),Tetranodon and many more. But not just the big monsters, perhaps some small monsters could also have been added. Such as the Neopterons and Herbivores from Rise/Sunbreak or even the minion monsters.
A good way of implementation would have been, from my point of view, to have a proper roster set ready and then add the sub species later.
Something I would also have wished to see is an exclusive MHNow monster/Elder Dragon like we had in MHExplore. Adding some Frontier monsters would also have been a blast but we'll have to wait and see if those ever get implemented.
Gems
This is a major issue from niantic/Capcom. There is absolute no way of earning gems other than buying them. (At the start of the story when starting with a fresh character, you start gaining a few gems to a certain amount - iirc 300 gems or so for every level up/story progress to a certain degree).
And this makes no sense, in PokemonGo you had ways to earn money to buy raid tickets and other QOL stuff or even just cosmetics, in MHNow this way has been rendered obsolete. And that is not the only issue. The "sales" are not just bad but straight out overpricing items and gems trying to anchor users that those sales are worth the purchase, which they aren't. A lot of games fold to greed and try to drain out the money of users who just want to share and experience a MH mobile game. I wasn't able to play MHExplore so MHNow is the best alternative i am able to get when it comes to MH&Mobile.
A way to address this issue and "fix" it would be in the already existing Hunt-A-Thon (HATs) Mechanic. As players finish a HAT they could get rewarded a certain amount of gems (fixed amount obtainable per day; example: 30 Gems per HAT and a maximum of 90 gems obtainable per day). That way you are able to collect gems but need to actively go out and participate in raids.
Another fix should be to the overall cost to purchase potions or rather remove those in general and instead implement better "packs", such as mass items or very rare items.
Perhaps adding a way to increase the amount of Potions you can hold as an exclusive gem-bought perk would also be a very neat QOL improvement to hunters. Since you can only hold 10 First-Aid Potions (which you get 5 per day) you effectively hold up to 15 free potion at a day. But having the chance to increase the pool in which you can hold the potions would make it more attractive for users to login daily and collect or do daily missions.
Login Perks
Another mechanic that could have been implemented very well would have been weekly /monthly login mechanics that rewards users for every day they continuously login. And here would be a nice alignment with the gem issues. They could make it so that every 7th day or end of the month users could earn gems this way.
Money
Yes, niantic/capcom are companies and they need money in order to survive or provide service to a product. Since I can see that from the perspective of a company the question would be; how will this game generate money without being too greedy. And here was my thought; special membership rank/perks. Meaning that those who buy a special membership obtain access to 2x rewards or direct access to the season pass as an example.
Also as mentioned again, actually providing good item packs or upgrades to the inventory/item management.
New Overworld Realms
Something nice to implement would also new new biomes, but the question would be how to add them. Of course the idea would be just add new biomes and add them to the Map. But lets try going for a new idea. Instead of doing that perhaps add special gates that can be found in the over world. Once you enter those you get a new overworld with new biomes loaded.
The idea behind that would be provide new biomes that make sense in their structure/general theme. Like a lava and a cave Biome for the Underworld Biome where hunters can find a lot more specific monsters dedicated or exclusive to those regions. The other Biome overlay would be the Ocean Biome which would have UW/Jungle/Swamp areas and the such.
Another Biome would be to have the Sky Biome - tho tbh, I wouldn't know how to implement that idea. Perhaps the palyer could aboard an airship that they use to navigate through the sky and encounter rare/specific monsters in the sky. It could also be used to encounter Elder dragons and where users could fight them in dedicated HATs.
Elder Dragons
We already know Kushala will soon appear to MHNow as there have been item names sighted in the game code. So the appearance of more Elder dragons is just a waiting game as for now. Really wish to get an exclusive ED.
New Weapons
Not do I wish to see all weapons be include to MH (we still are missing the insect glaive and the Switchaxe), but perhaps also get the chance to get some new weapons or even those from frontier?
Palicos+Treasure Hunts
Adding more palicos to your hunter so they can be sent out to treasure hunt like in MHFU. These missions would take up certain amount of time, but send them away for longer periods of time would result in more rewards and better chances of getting rare items along the way.
Villages
Yes, lets talk about the idea to create a village around your local area and be able to upgrade that. By upgrading you could eventually obtain certain buildings such as the merchants that could sell items to players at random with changing prices each day. Or be able to make farms to plant items and make them proliferate. This way hunters would be able to farm items such as herbs/shrooms more comfortable and would help players that live in rural areas and are struggling with HATs and collection points in the overworld.
This would also be a good chance to make certain upgrades only be available with gems. Which you could either farm for or go and grab the wallet to accelerate the upgrade/growth.
Helping Hunters
With the village you could also come to a new mechanic that be nice to be introduced, helping hunters. While this idea might be a bit iffy to implement to MHNow atm, think of it this way: There aren't enough active players out there, and the only effective way for some to gain rare materials is from HATs. If players had tho hunters they could equip and take with to quests would make it easier to grind/farm items. It wouldn't have to be hunters per say, but palicos would also be a viable option.
To get hunters/palicos players would need to collect materials to build a house in which they could then hire and place their partners. In these houses you are able to customize your helpers, in which you would have to equip and upgrade their gears too. This would lead to farm materials to have a better exp over the longer period of time. You could also make the option to decide who hunts along and where, like active in overworld or in HATs. Of course having the hunters run around the whole time would be just too beneficial so adding a stamina system to them would make it a bit more difficult and make players decide carefully on who and when to add to hunts. Once the stamina runs out from hunters, players would be able to give them stamina drinks to extend their time traveling with you. If the stamina runs out though, they would require a recharge time before being able to deploy again.
With all that in mind, I do hope to see some better development and implementations to the game.
